The Beta PT
First Visit
What to expect
Here’s a guide to our process. This will take you through the steps.
Step 1
Phone Consultation
Schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if BetaPT is right for you. During your free consultation Dr. Cooper will ask pointed questions about both your current and past conditions to get a feel for your injury and, most importantly, for you as a climber. By understanding your history with climbing and other physical activities, Dr. Cooper will better understand your current condition and will let you know on the spot how he can help you reach your climbing goals. From injury rehabilitation, to injury prevention, to performance enhancement, find out if BetaPT is the right fit for you by giving us a call for a free 15-minute phone consultation.
Step 2
Initial Evaluation
Your first visit to BetaPT will be a 60-minute initial evaluation. BetaPT is perfect for climbers looking for injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance enhancement. Located right in the climbing gym, you can schedule your appointment after a climbing session! First, Dr. Cooper will ask you some questions about your climbing experience, history, and any additional exercise you do (it all matters!). Dr. Cooper’s osteopathic approach means that he is looking at your body as a whole. Everything in your body is connected and his job is to normalize your mobility, flexibility, strength, posture, and control in order to remove roadblocks that are holding your body back from healing and performing. So while Dr. Cooper will take a look at your injury, he will also evaluate every other part of your body from your toes to your frickin’ nose. And don’t worry, he will explain everything he does along the way, big words omitted. Finally, he’ll work with you to put together a plan that will not only work towards your goals but is completely doable. It won’t be some obscure, 2-hour stretching routine, but instead an easy to follow and comprehensive set of movements catered specifically to you the climber.
Step 3
Ongoing Visits
After your first visit, it is crucial to check in with Dr. Cooper whenever possible. He will do a re-evaluation each time you come in to track your progress and note how your new movement style is affecting your body. Additional visits can range from small manipulations to get you back in-line to complete program overhauls that account for new obstacles that may arise. Either way, you will leave each session feeling like you are one step closer to your climbing goals.
Step 4
Telehealth
If you can’t make it into the office due to geographic location, a scheduling conflict, or a pandemic, Dr. Cooper is happy to treat you over video chat! While you won’t receive hands-on manual therapy or dry needling over the internet, Dr. Cooper’s movement and body expertise is still invaluable even from miles away. You will connect via computer or cell phone and video chat with Dr. Cooper for an allotted time. Together, you will review your symptoms and he will give you ways to self-assess and self-treat to help manage or get rid of those symptoms. He can then help create or adjust a plan to keep you moving forward towards your goals.
